Product Description

The ReKTO wooden radio base design is off a running production radio made by a well known electronics company in Indonesia. When I saw it for the first time, the original radio, it had a nice basic configuration (size, position of knobs, frequency display etc.) as well as producing a great sound. I thought it would be great if I could redesign it not just to produce a new appearance, but to also produce it in my home village out of sustainable materials. I was sure that a mutual collaboration between a large company, who already provided high-quality electronic parts, with a well developed crafts activity would give many benefits to both parties. I always put in my mind to design products that would have a long life cycle, hopefully timeless… basic shapes with a perfect proportion in the whole as well as good in proportion of the individual parts are the foundation of my designs. I combine the wood with fabric for the back & front panels. Fabric & wood give a warmer & friendly expression compared to plastic or metal. I am very proud of the lock system for the battery compartment, simple yet beautiful. The Rectangle radio is completed with an auxiliary connector, so you can also use it as a speaker. We also added an External Antenna and its port. It uses 6V DC power, you can use battery as well as external power input. All technical information is included in the User’s Manual inside of the package.

    (verified owner):

Just wanted to let you know how delighted I am with my new Rekto wooden radio. Many people won’t get what you are offering. In a world where shiny surfaces, Led displays and more bells and whistles than they really need dominate, it can be hard to cut through the marketing noise .

For any one who loves design with simple and natural components and wants a bed side radio or in my case an office radio . They should get one of these.
